The TV serial Anupamaa, telecast on StarPlus, was launched in July 2020 after a delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The show replaced Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke on the channel. What Is the Story of Anupamaa All About?
The whole narrative is about Anupamaa Shah who is a middle-aged housewife living with her family. She spends her whole life for her husband and kids but, even then, she is regularly looked down upon and called “uneducated” and just a homemaker. Her husband Vanraj and mother-in-law are those who frequently mock her.
The second major event in the story is when she discovers that Vanraj is cheating on her with his colleague Kavya. On their silver anniversary, Anupamaa finds out about it and she is devastated. Instead of bearing the pain quietly, she opts for dignity and wants to create her own personality. She divorces Vanraj, something no one in the family expects.
Subsequently, she gets in touch with her old college friend Anuj Kapadia who has been in love with her all these years. Eventually, they marry and adopt a little girl whom they name Chhoti Anu.
But life doesn’t get any simpler. We keep getting new challenges one after the other. Maya, the biological mother of Chhoti Anu, stirs up misunderstandings. In their emotional struggles, separations, and family conflicts, Anuj and Anupamaa are the ones who get hurt most. The family dynamics also get affected by such tragic events as the death of Samar.
